Tons of cocaine in the coastal sand
Record load of cocaine – about 27 ton – Colombian police took over – notified (local time) local authorities. Almost a thousand packages of the drug were hidden under the sand on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, in a place accessible only from the sea. Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos informed about the seizure of cocaine. The police took over on Sunday. Cocaine was hidden under the sand near the city of Pizarro, lying 400 km west of the capital of Colombia, Bogoty. This is the biggest load of cocaine, ever in Colombia fell into the hands of the authorities. Its market value is estimated at approx 500 mln USD. Police managed to seize drugs as a result of an eight-month operation – explained the head of the Ministry of Defense. Colombia is the world's largest producer of cocaine, and most of the drug's production goes from here to the North American market.
