Italy: mimosa for Women's Day
On Women's Day, widely celebrated in Italy, ladies receive, according to tradition, sprigs of mimosa. This is the most popular gift given to Italians 8 brand. The farmers' association has calculated, that the trade was prepared 15 millions of bouquets of these flowers just blooming. However, not everyone goes to florists to get them. Many Italians tear twigs of mimosa from trees, growing everywhere in cities. This does not please the breeders, who at the same time see support for Italian plantations in the gesture of handing over a mimosa bouquet. Other flowers are much less popular on Women's Day. Similarly, as with other mass holidays, farmers are appealing, to buy Italian flowers, and not those sometimes brought from distant corners of the world.
