Thanks to the book, the remains of Copernicus were recognized
The remains found in Frombork belong to Nicolaus Copernicus. It was possible to establish this thanks to the book, which has been in the possession of the astronomer for years, TVP Info learned. Scientists compared the genetic material in the book with the remains and found a positive result. Tests carried out in the laboratory of Uppsala University confirmed, that the remains belong to Nicolaus Copernicus. The identification was possible thanks to Swedish scientists. It is in the Gustavianum Museum in Uppsala that there are books, that belonged to the famous astronomer. The initiator of the comparison of the genetic material in the book, Prof. Göran Henriksson was with the remains found in Frombork, prof. astronomy at Uppsala University. Argues, that he was inspired by a lecture by Polish scientists, which he listened to. – I learned, that research material is sought to be compared with the remains found in Poland. I thought, that if we found in a book, e.g.. fragments of hair, their genetic code could be compared with the remains. It also happened. We obtained a positive effect – says Prof Henriksson. In the Swedish museum there are, inter alia, two books that previously belonged to Nicolaus Copernicus. “Roman Calendar” Johhannes Stöffler was owned by the astronomer by 25 Years.
Copernicus was the only person, who read the book carefully. The famous astronomer also took notes in the Calendar. After Copernicus' death, the book was donated to the Warmia Library, then stolen by the Swedish army during the Deluge, it ended up in the library in Uppsala.
