This is probably the most famous play by Jan Kochanowski. It is a great praise of the linden tree, common tree in the Polish landscape. Nature is the source of poetic inspiration in this simple piece, beautiful, the tree also provides coolness on a hot day, calm, casts a nice shadow. Lipa turns out to be friendly not only to people, like the whole natural world in this piece, it also gives shelter to birds, bees collect nectar from her flowers.
Kochanowski's epic linden is aware of its value, talks about it, that the host appreciates her very highly. She speaks alone, for the poet personified the tree, that is, he assigned human characteristics to him. Thanks to this procedure, the lime tree can express the feelings of the poet himself. Above all, his love of calm, prosperous life in the countryside, in the midst of nature you love, in a sense of security.
