Guiness record: Grilling 12 tons of beef
Twelve tons of beef – so much meat ended up on a huge grate in the capital of Uruguay on Sunday, Montevideo. Uruguayans broke the current Guinness record with 2006 year, then the Mexicans grilled eight tons of meat. As informed by the organizer of the great barbecue, National Meat Institute INAC, w “the biggest barbecue celebration in the world” took part 1250 cooks and 600 helpers, including firefighters and soldiers. Beef meat is one of Uruguay's most important exports. Great meat grilling has become part of Uruguayan culture, and the proper preparation of steaks has become an art. Sunday's holiday was a great success among the people; all 20 thousands of admission cards were purchased well in advance. Animal rights activists demonstrated to no avail.
