In the Jewish religion, the Bar Mitzvah is a ceremony, during which a thirteen-year-old boy assumes the duties of reaching manhood and the duties related to his religion. This custom did not appear until the fourteenth century, although there are mentions in the writings, that a certain symbolic ceremony was held in ancient times, when the boy reached adolescence.
