Arguing about the meaning of gift wrapping
Anyone who supports the thesis that there is no difference between men and women should look at men trying to wrap a Christmas present. As reported by a British newspaper “Daily Mail”, for most men, wrapping presents is an utterly pointless activity, because the packaging - no matter what, how effective it is - it will be broken anyway, to reveal the contents. Women, on the other hand, like to receive gifts, which show the effort and attention of the giver, because they believe, that careful packaging of a gift shows love and interest. According to experts, the gender differences in the approach to gift wrapping can be explained scientifically based on differences in the structure and functioning of the eyes. Evolution equipped prehistoric hunters with the ability to focus on objects that are far away, which allowed them to easily observe the horizon and spotting game.
In turn, women, as collectors and feeders, had to learn the ability to observe objects at a short distance and to see details.. Manual dexterity turned out to be a great help in picking fruit and plants, thanks to which modern women better cope with precise wrapping of gifts in paper and tying bows.
