A new Polish record in playing the accordion

In Miastko (Pomeranian) a new Polish Kashubian record for playing the accordion was established. Two popular melodies “Czinda” i “Ahoy Janeczek” performed 202 accordionists – informed Marek Wantoch, the initiator of the event – Rekowski. The previous record was thus broken by Fr. 34 playing. Last year in Kramarzyny (Pomeranian) two Kashubian songs – “My dad was mocking his bite” (My dad bought a goat) i “In KashŰby” – performed 168 accordionists. The record breaking was the culmination of the Kashubian Unity Day celebrated in Miastko. According to Mark Wantoch – Rekowski took part in the day-long event 6 – 6,5 thousand. people. Kashubian Unity Day began in the morning with the Holy Mass. in the parish church of. Divine Mercy. After the service, the artistic part of the event began, Kashubian bands performed, there was a show of contemporary Kashubian fashion, traditional Kashubian embroidery, tasting of regional dishes, knowledge competition about Kashubia, card tournament in “Kashubian BaĘka” and taking snuff together. The event was accompanied by an accordion exhibition from the collection of Paweł Nowak from Gdańsk and a photo exhibition.

Although the date of this year's celebration of the Kashubian Unity Day was set at the beginning of February, the event was close to not taking place. The parish priest of the second parish in town protested against her, that such a large gathering should not be held on Palm Sunday. The mayor of Miastko, Roman Ramion, initially shared the arguments of the parish priest and withdrew his consent to the organization of the Kashubian Unity Day in the hall of the local gymnasium. But then he changed his mind and the party took place.
