Mother's Day
Mother's Day is one of the most famous holidays in the world. It is celebrated on different days depending on the country. In Poland it is 26 house, however, in many regions it falls on the first or second Sunday of May, sometimes it is also associated with the Women's Day.
The tradition of mother's day worship goes much further than you might think. Mother-goddesses are already worshiped in ancient Greece, which provided crops and fertility, and fertility in general. This practice was not revived until the 17th century. in England, in which the mother's day was celebrated every fourth Sunday of Lent. The mother, however, was defined by the family church or parish. Only with time did it transform into Mother's Day, during which the parent is appreciated and family ties are strengthened.
There is also an American version of the creation of this holiday. First, there was a Mother's Labor Day, then Mothers Day for Peace, until finally in 1914. the US congress approved Mother's Day as a national holiday.
However, the real boom occurred in the second half of the 20th century. All mothers are given gifts on this day, sweets, wishes, through which gratitude is expressed, love and appreciation for what they do for children and for the family. In Poland, the most popular gift given to the mother at that time are the cards made by children, flowers and sweets.
