The King of Thailand, Rama IX – Bhumibol Adulyadej was the richest among monarchs today. He topped the list 15 holders of hereditary fortunes, published in the latest issue of the American magazine “Forbes”. 80-year-old Bhumibol Adulyadej owns assets assessed at 35 billion dollars. It is ahead of four oil sheikhs: the President of the United Arab Emirates, Khalifa ibn Zajed al-Nahayan (he has got 60 years and 23 billion dollars), King of Saudi Arabia Abd Allah ibn Abd al- Aziza as-Sauda (84 years and 21 billion dollars), of the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah (62 years and 20 billion dollars) and Sheikh Muhammad ibn Rashid al-Maktoum of Dubai (58 years and 18 billion dollars). Muhammad Maktoum, vice president, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the UAE, is also the owner of a real estate empire composed of, among others. from a hotel in New York and farms in the US state of Kentucky and Australia. The youngest owner of a great hereditary fortune is the 40-year-old king of Swaziland, which ends the list, Mrs. III. His fortune is 200 million dollars. There are two monarchs on the list: on 12. British position of Queen Elizabeth II, which age 82 years has 650 million dollars, in case 14. position 70-year-old Queen of the Netherlands Beatrix z 300 million dollars. The list also includes Aga Khan IV, who does not rule the state – spiritual leader 15 millions of Ismailis, belonging to the Shi'ite current of Islam, Prince Karim al-Hussein. Aga Chan IV, known for his philanthropic activities and development support in the countries of sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South Asia and the Middle East, has a fortune estimated at a billion dollars.
