Carrier pigeons delivered drugs to the prisoners

Criminals imprisoned in one of Bosnian prisons have invented a really original way of obtaining drugs – they used carrier pigeons for this, bred by them under ”therapy through work”. Drug therapy, however, ended in a slip-up. Pigeons delivered the prisoners from Zenica (central Bosnia) cocaine and heroin in bags attached to the legs. It all started, when a group of prisoners was allowed to breed pigeons as part of therapy through work – betrayed Josip Pojavnik, deputy warden of the prison. The practice is out, when inmates were tested for the presence of drugs in the body. – They abused our trust in the worst possible way – said Pojavnik in the journal ”Independent Newspapers”. – Learning from this experience, the management closed the loft. In the future, prisoners will only be able to see pigeons in the sky – added. Ornithologists pay attention to the journal, that not only pigeons are to blame, because the prisoners also had to have accomplices, who supplied them drugs. The center in Zenica is one of three closely guarded penitentiaries in Bosnia.
