At the airport, they detained a man without fingerprints
For four hours at a US airport, immigration officials held the man without fingerprints. Turned out, that he lost them due to a rare side effect of one of his anti-cancer drugs. The incident happened last year, but it came out yesterday, when the case was described by a sick man's doctor in a medical journal “Annals of Oncology”. Man, only described as “pan S.”, was taking a popular anti-cancer drug – capecitabine – for three years. He was not aware, that his fingerprints had disappeared during this time. Blamed the drug, which can make the skin peel off your hands and destroy fingerprints. After being questioned by US officials, the man was released. His doctor – The Singaporean Eng-Huat Tan advises patients taking the drug, who are going to the USA, that they take the doctor's certificate with them.
