Belarus creates “list of national curiosities”

Belarusians have to deal with many unusual problems. ONT TV from Minsk has compiled a list of bizarre situations, which touched the audience calling the editorial office last week. Journalists arranging a peculiar “list of curiosities” the town of Vileyka in the north of the country was the most surprised. Local authorities decided, that bread can only be sold from the local bakery in the entire area. However, people complain about its quality and want the right to choose. The town of Niasviž was in second place, considered a Mecca of Belarusian tourism. Local authorities ordered the hot water to be turned off on working days, the residents only enjoy the hot tap water on weekends. The authorities justify the decision with savings considerations.

Third place was the incident in the city of Kobrin in the west of the country. There, after the winter, retirees noticed, that a gas filling station for cars was built on their private plot and without their knowledge. Local authorities do not see this as a problem.
