Toilet paper from the excrement
Toilet paper, as we know, made of paper. Welsh company Creative Paper Wales (CPW) however, she approached the issue very creatively, using undigested fibers from sheep faeces. Purely, ecologically and with an emphasis on bottom-up local initiatives. Producers claim, that the paper is made only from freshly harvested pellets. In addition, they come from a very clean area – Snowdonia mountain range. There is a national park of the same name here. CPW was established two years ago. Thanks to the cash injection in the amount of 20 thousand. pounds (it was an award for the best social entrepreneur) The former quarry was converted and production was in full swing. What is the production process like?? First, you need to sterilize the feces. This happens when cooking under pressure (something like in a steamer). The temperature inside the device is reaching 120 degrees, and the process is powered only by spring water. The load is rinsed several times for a few days, until its weight is reduced by about half. Half the time, because animals digest 50 proc. of the cellulose eaten. Liquid fertilizer is produced during flushing, valued and eagerly bought by local farmers. The fibers are crushed and mixed with the rest of the recycled ingredients: rags, old paper and clippings. Sheets are formed from the pulp. They are stacked, and puts felt between the individual sheets, which prevents sticking. After that, it is enough to remove the rest of the water. This is an important stage, because the squeezing further accelerates the fusion of cellulose particles. At the very end, the paper is hung on the rafters.
The Welsh sells more than just toilet paper, but also Christmas and birthday cards, postcards, business cards (to order), bookmarks, stationery store, as well as fragrance inserts. Contrary to appearances, the latter do not smell of sheep excrement, but they saturate the house or the car with the memory of roses, daffodils and freshly cut grass.
