Record: the world's most expensive blue diamond
It is smaller than a nail, extremely rare and extremely valuable. An anonymous buyer paid a record sum for it at an auction 10,5 million Swiss francs (7 million euros). Gem, put up for auction in Geneva, comes from the famous Cullinan mine in South Africa. It weighs 7,03 carat and has not the slightest flaw. It is one of the few known blue diamonds in the world. The stone was placed on a platinum ring.
