11-summer toreador Michelito killed in the arena in Merida, Mexico, a record-breaking number of six bulls per one show – local media reported. Course “enclosure” in Merida – corridy, during which only one bullfighter fights the young, two-year-old bulls – was registered and posted to the Guinness Book of Records. Until now, no bullfighter so young had faced six bulls on one bullfight. Michelita was accompanied by his younger brother in the arena, ten-year-old Andresito, also preparing for the role of a toreador. Saturday's fights in Merida took place despite protests by environmentalists, against the killing of bulls, and the Mexican Society for the Protection of Children, that Michelito was putting himself in danger. The final decision to hold the bullfight was made a few hours before the fight by the mayor of Merida. Michelito is the son of the once famous bullfighter Michel Lagravere, which, moreover, runs his own bullfighting school in Mexico. Around Michelit it became loud in Europe, when last year he was banned from playing bullfights in the south of France due to his young age. The Alliance anti-corrida organization also vehemently protested against the boy's participation in the fighting in the arena, demanding a total ban on bullfighting.
The opponents of the boy's participation in bullfights also emphasized, that a very young torero, which has already made a name for itself in Mexico, he takes part in real fights there.
