The auction was held simultaneously in Rome, London, Abu Zabi in Macau. The noblest mushroom in the world went to Hong Kong financial tycoon Stanley Ho. Last year, Stanley Ho also bought the same weighty delicacy 1,5 kg for a record sum 330 thousand dollars. The truffle put on Saturday's auction is the largest one found this year in Italy. It comes from the central region of Molise. Even the ancient Greeks and Romans appreciated truffles, considering them an aphrodisiac.
