What is Maidan
Maidan, it is the largest square in Kiev, in Ukraine, which recently became famous for very large riots between the society and the Ukrainian militia. Unfortunately, Maidan is not one of the most peaceful places in this country, because many key historical events took place there.
On this Independence Square, there have been protests by Ukrainians during the recent events, who cared about it, to join the European Union. Unfortunately, this decision is constantly postponed.
The first mentions of the square in Maidan come from the beginning of the second half of the 12th century. And less than a hundred years later, it was attacked by the Mongols. The first buildings around the square began to be built from 1730 year. At the beginning they were wooden huts, but a century later, wooden buildings began to be built.
Protests, which unfortunately lasted for many months, resulted in many victims. Moreover, Ukraine has not achieved anything interesting due to its country's accession to the European Union. Crimea, on the other hand, was occupied by Russia in all these riots. It is also unknown, or only in the Crimea will all seizures of territory come to an end, whether the President of Russia will go on another attack. Although Crimea was theoretically legally taken over, by holding a referendum, which took place on the peninsula. According to the results of the referendum over 90% was for joining Russia.
