Searching for information about yourself or your friends on the Internet is becoming more and more popular, at least among American Internet users. According to Ars Technica, almost searches for such data 47 proc. US adult internet users. For comparison, in 2002 year, this coefficient was more than two times lower and amounted to only 22 proc. The website refers to a report prepared by the research company Pew Internet and American Life Project. According to him, approx. 74 proc. users wishing to find information about themselves only used the Internet for this purpose once or twice. Far fewer American Internet users do this on a regular basis, they are ok. 3 proc. Do 87 proc. the number of users satisfied with the correctness of their data available on the web has also increased. W 2002 year this coefficient fluctuated within 74 proc.
However, only 62 proc. American netizens say, that the information found met their expectations. What's more, users of the global network from the USA are not afraid to find out information about themselves. The main doubts, however, are the possible misuse of the available data by third parties or companies.
