Harvey - review

Elwood P. Dowd has an invisible friend named Harvey, it is a white rabbit measuring over 180 cm tall, high truth? They walk around town together, They like to spend their time in bars talking and drinking alcohol. I buy it. A great advantage is the role of James Stewart, who does a great job in genres on the border of fantasy. You can have associations with "Donnie Darko" of 2001 year, however, Harvey is something else entirely. This is a fairy tale for adults, which can distract us from everyday life for a while and allow us to look at the world from a completely different perspective.

Direction: Henry Coster
Scenario: Oscar Brodney, Mary Chase
date of production: 1950
Type: A fantasy comedy
Starring:
James Stewart: Elwood P. Dowd
Nana Bryant: Pani Hazel Chumley

James Stewart (Elwood P. Dowd) he is a great actor. In many films, he plays the role of a believer idealist, that the world can be changed for the better (np. "It's a Wonderful Life", "Mr. Smith goes to Washington"). He also left his traces in thriller games - a very fruitful collaboration with Alfred Hitchcock ("Window to the Courtyard" or "Dizziness"). I like him, same as the fantasy genre and I will say , that I was not disappointed with Harvey. The film is pleasant to watch. Despite his age (premiere in 1950) some jokes are really good. I remember two well. A fairy tale for adults that takes you to a world where there are no bad people. You can take a moment to look at Elwood's wanderings in this beautiful city. He meets problems, however, he is safe, he always smiles. Despite walking in the clouds, the behavior of the heroes is reflected in reality as much as possible. Situations tend to be exaggerated, it's a comedy after all. It is a story about happiness, there is an abundance of it in various forms in the film. About relationships between people, maybe it's worth being more kind to yourself?

One of the movies that can ignite the imagination. Maybe someday I will come back to him. Pure optimism. Most of the action takes place in closed rooms. There is such a claustrophobia in it, it would be nice to see more space in the movie. I think, that rating 8 on a 10-point scale it is optimal. Harvey is missing nothing, the potential was used.

Harvey's in charge 7 1st in the fantasy category for the best American movies of all time.

Pros:
– big rabbit
– James Stewart

Minuses:
– it's just a fairy tale

Rating: 8/10 – very good
