The office of the President of the European Council is also sometimes referred to as the President of Europe. He can cover this position by 2,5 year. There is a one-time re-election.
The person holding this office is first and foremost the representative of the European Union on the international arena. Its role is also to bring about an agreement among member states when it comes to establishing new laws and governments.
