TV and film writers are on strike in Hollywood and New York. Therefore, the producers of popular series announce that the shooting will be discontinued, because the scripts are over – reported the agency AP. It was suspended, inter alia,. production of the American version of the series “The Office”. A studio in Los Angeles reported, that the last episodes are filmed “Surgeons” (Greys Anatomy), for which the scripts were written. The case of the popular ones in Poland is similar “Ready for anything” (Desperate Housewives), which also end the scenarios. The scriptwriters who have been on strike since Monday are demanding a greater share of film companies in the profits from exploiting films, their sale on DVDs and from publications on the Internet. There is no deadline for new negotiations on these matters. In addition to financial demands, the scriptwriters also put forward demands to level their situation – m.in. on social and copyright issues – with the situation of actors and other employees of the film industry. The previous great strike of American screenwriters happened in 1988 year and lasted 22 weeks. The protest caused delays in introducing the autumn schedule, and the losses were assessed as 500 million dollars.
