Court 17 years chasing the wrong twin
A resident of Philadelphia, USA, had been in trouble for many years because of unpaid tickets issued to his twin brother. In the end, he got an apology. Being a twin is not easy. Sometimes you need extra protection, and sometimes extra cash. Especially, if, apart from an identical date of birth, we share a very similar name with our siblings. Edward Stanley Harris found it out. The problems of the 40-year-old American began between October 1990 but I have 1991 year. During this period, his brother, Edwin Shelby Harris received eight seats for, among others,. for speeding. In September 1991 an order for payment has been issued 1501 dollars. But Edwin Harris never paid them. He was in financial trouble then. He moved and lost contact with his brother. This is how Edward's troubles began… In the fall 1992 On the year, officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation confused both Harris brothers and threatened to suspend Edward's driver's license, if he fails to pay the Edwin tickets. Edward then managed to clear up the mistake, but the script repeated itself every year. Since October 1992 until June 2007 the man regularly had to face the bureaucratic machinery of the Department of Transport. Each time he returned to the judge, to avert the threat of suspension of the driving license. And so it lasted until November last year, when during my next visit to the office, Judge Willie Adams refused to even look at the papers proving Edward's innocence and ordered him to pay the debt under penalty of imprisonment.
The American was afraid of losing his freedom and began to pay 100 dollars per month. Seeing no other solution, he went to the press. Only after the article about it, which appeared on Monday in the local newspaper “Philadelphia Daily News”, things turned out well. Another judge, Bernice DeAngelis apologized to Edward Harris for his many years of troubles and assured him that his costs would be reimbursed.
