Punishment for napping in President Chirac's bed

The disciplinary commission of the French police interrogated a policeman, about to take a nap in Jacques Chirac's bed. The final decision as to the policeman's fate will be made by Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy. The incident took place in the capital of Mali, Bamako, where President Chirac went, to take part in the Franco-African Summit. The presidential plane was guarded at the airport by a policeman from the units guarding state dignitaries. At one point he felt bad. He sat on the president's bed in the plane and fell into a few hours' nap, from which the substitute woke him. According to the latter, the policeman was supposed to be under the influence of alcohol, but the state of sobriety was not specified, because nobody had a breathalyzer.

The policeman explained his well-being with anti-malaria drugs, which he took before the trip and the heat of the plane, in which air conditioning was turned off during the stay at the airport.

The alarm was raised by the majordomo of the Elysée Palace, which before Chirac's departure from Mali he said, that the bed is badly made, and the sheet is wrinkled and soiled. According to commentators, the policeman is facing severe disciplinary sanctions.
