Ajaccio (Corsica). The most important historic buildings in the city are: cathedral (XVI w., erected on the plan of a cross, thick., with a central dome), citadel (XVI w.), church of St.–Erasmus (17th century) and numerous old houses (m. in. the family home of Napoleon Bonaparte, now a museum). Musée Fesch with a rich painting collection owned by. and the works of the masters of flam., franc, and spanish; Napoleonic Museum. In the area there is the castle de la Punta (the end of the 19th century), during the construction of which elements from the demolished ruins of the Tuileries Palace were used.
