Human milk ice cream
23 September PETA, international organization fighting for animal rights, sent to the American ice cream maker Ben & Jerrys Homemade Ice Cream an unusual request. The idea was to replace cow's milk with human milk. The letter reached the addressees, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield (co-founders of the company). Spokesman Rob Michalak spoke on their behalf. He stressed, that he appreciates the creativity of the PETA approach, but milk will be best for human babies. In the PETA letter, she referred, for example, to the Swiss restaurant Storchen, who started buying milk from nursing mothers. Thanks to this, it replaces with human milk 75% cow's milk in the served dishes, m.in. soups, stews and sauces. The organization claims, that in this way the well-being of cows and calves can be improved, and positively affect the health of consumers. It makes no sense, that adult humans consume enormous amounts of dairy products made from calf milk. Everyone knows, that the breast is the best, that's why Ben & Jerrys benefits and consumers, and the cows a big favor, switching to human milk – believes vice president Tracy Reiman.
